Where Do Centrifugal Fans Get Used?

Centrifugal fans are different from axial fans.Axial fans just push air straight forward.Centrifugal fans suck air in and then fling it outward,so they generate higher static pressure.This characteristic determines where they end up.

 

First common place:kitchen exhaust.Think about it-long grease ducts,lots of bends,filters in the way.Lots of resistance.Regular fans can't handle it.Centrifugal fans don't mind-they build up pressure and push that greasy air right out.Hotel kitchens,cafeterias,places like that-they almost all use centrifugal fans.

 

Second:HVAC and fresh air systems.You need to push air to every corner of a building,through ducts that can run dozens of meters.Without enough pressure,it won't work.Centrifugal fans maintain good static pressure even at moderate airflow,so every vent actually gets air.

 

Then there's industrial dust collection.Factories need to suck dust through ductwork,and baghouse filters themselves create significant resistance.Centrifugal fans are up to the task.Also drying equipment,printing presses,boiler forced draft-any application that needs to overcome duct resistance-centrifugal fans are the workhorse.

 

Smaller applications too,like computer power supplies and projector cooling.Tight spaces,twisted airflow paths-you need a fan with decent pressure.Small centrifugal fans or blower wheels fit the bill.

 

Bottom line:complex ducts,high resistance,need concentrated exhaust or supply air-centrifugal fans are pretty much the answer.
